>>>The word EN means AND but E in Dutch and A in English are pronounced the same.
Overview of "Het Nederlands" - The Dutch Language
Dutch is spoken by over twenty million people in Holland and Belgium as well as in former overseas colonies such as Suriname, the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. The Dutch spoken in Belgium is often referred to as Flemish though in recent times a standardised version has been recognised by both countries (Dutch and Flemish are about as different as UK and American English). Dutch has also, from the very start, been one of the official languages of the European Union.
Status of the Dutch language worldwide. Red = Official language, Orange = Previously official, Yellow = regionally acknowledged.
English Cousin
Historically, Dutch is probably the closest "world" language to English. They are both from the West Germanic branch of languages, which also includes Frisian, a language spoken in the north-east of Holland to this day. Indeed, English might now sound very similar to Dutch had the Normans not conquered England in 1066 and irreversibly influenced Old English with French words and grammar.
Afrikaans is a variant which originated in South Africa amongst Dutch colonists several centuries ago. Despite years of research, it is not yet known from which Dutch dialect or accent this sprung. Amongst its many idiosynchratic features, Afrikaans is the only other language in the world besides English to have only one gender.
Local Colour
As many languages do, Dutch reflects its historical roots and traditions in its many ex-pressions and sayings. Dairy farming has long been a pillar of the Dutch economy and has left its trace in many turns of phrase. "Don"t drag old cows out of the ditch" means approximately to let sleeping dogs lie, for example. The Dutch were also formidable seafarers and English borrowed many nautical words in past centuries, such as sloop, cruise and more recently, polder.
Dutch certainly has a rather unique approach to swearwords: sexually-based ones are less shocking, the worst being related to catching oaving nasty diseases, a hangover from unhealthier media eval times. The worse the disease, the more are insulting the curse, and the Dutch use a whole clutch of them: pleurisy, tuberculosis, the plague, smallpox, cancer... recently even Aids has been added to the list. To call someone an "Aids sufferer", for instance, is a grave insult, so the system evolves continually. This can all be a bit unsettling for the unsuspecting newcomer.

They are from Spain an it is populair flamenco they bring. It are brothers and cousins from each other.

Dmitri Torbinski and Andrei Arshavin struck in the last eight minutes of extra time to take Russia into the UEFA EURO 2008™ semi-finals at the expense of the Netherlands as Guus Hiddink eliminated the nation of his birth.
Russia dominance
From the off Russia never allowed Marco van Basten"s previously imperious side space and attacked with vigour. Roman Pavlyuchenko"s 56th-minute volley seemed to have won the game but with four minutes remaining Ruud van Nistelrooy headed an equaliser. However, Russia dominated the additional half-hour and the tireless Arshavin set up substitute Torbinski to restore the advantage from close range in the 112th minute. The No10 added another himself to set up semi-final against Spain or Italy in Vienna on Sunday, although Torbinski and Denis Kolodin will miss that match through suspension.
It"s too bad, but Oranje can go home! No doubt: Russia played fantastic indeed!! And of course we keep smiling;it"s only a game and in fact there are more important things in life. And the Russsians played very good indeed, so........... Especially the Orange fans and in fact most Dutch inhabitants have had 2 very nice weeks.........the whole sphere in our little country was in one word........GREAT..! And still "Hats off" for the Dutch team and also for the Dutch coach of Russia!
Digitalis purpurea or "Foxglove" This is a view in the garden of my parental house.
Maybe you recognize the "Digitalis" or "Foxglove" or "Ladyglove". What a nice name, isn't it? (native in most of Europe) Years ago I took one plant from along the railway and planted it here, now every year they come back. They are very poisonous, but are also used to make medicins against heart problems. Lavendula officinales or Lavender
Last year I made a path from castle-grave trough the backgarden, surrounding by Lavendula (Lavender) on both sides. If you walk along the path, touching lightly the ears, you immediately perceive the fresh spicy fragance and THAT WAS MY WISH, so I created it in my own garden...................... I once saw it in France.......where it is used for the perfume industrie and where you can see ( and smell) fields and fields of lavender..........
........see the big photo.
I know that Lavender also grows in India
A lot of products can be made out of lavender.........first of all the lavender oil. This oil is used as an antiseptic and for aromatherapy.
The essential oil is used in soap, massage oil, the flowers in a sachet in the linen cupboard, there is lavender honey, sweets, incense........etcetera.
French chefs in and around the "Provence" (France) have been incorporating this herb into their cuisine for many centuries. Lavender lends a floral, slightly sweet and elegant flavour to most dishes.
Many people appreciate lavender for its aromatic fragrance, used in soaps, shampoos, and sachets for scenting clothes. The name lavender comes from the Latin root lavare , which means "to wash." Lavender most likely earned this name because it was frequently used in baths to help purify the body and spirit. However, this herb is also considered a natural remedy for a range of ailments from insomnia and anxiety to depression and mood disturbances. Research has confirmed that lavender produces calming, soothing, and sedative effects.
It was such a refreshed and bright morning, that I took my camera to share it with you. This is the little garden of my appartment, but I didn"t do yet anything this spring in that garden, so all has flourish abundant.................
All has to do with shortage of time. At this moment the house of my deceased parents is being rebuild to make it "my place" and I had to clean and empty the whole house before.............
My appartment, that I didn"t sell yet, during the care for my mother and staying with her, is now my domicile again during the weeks of the turnaround.
After that I go to sell the appartment and live definitely in the rebuild (parental) house.
Second-half goals from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Robin van Persieended Romania"s hopes of a quarter-final place in Berne as the Netherlands rounded off an impressive Group C campaign with a third successive victory ( 17/06/2008).
Netherlands on top Romania knew three points would ensure they joined their opponents in the last eight, but Victor Piţurcă"s side were always on the back foot and Huntelaar, having passed up one presentable opening in the first half, clinically guided in Ibrahim Afellay"s teasing right-wing cross nine minutes into the second. The win was sealed for a largely second-string Oranje team with three minutes left as Van Persie drove in his second goal in as many games.
I like to share this talent with you my friends. Still very young, (born in 1980 in a real gipsy family in the south of Holland) Jimmy Rosenberg is obviously one of the most formidable weavers of musical dreams. On the photo Jimmy with his father. On the first video he is grown up and see the pleasure of the musicians to play together !!! On the second video he is only 8 years old and is playing with his cousins, together "The Gipsy Kids" He can nearly hold his guitar!!!! It"s amazing!!
